GetUBetter Musculoskeletal App

The getUBetter digital self-management app is now being offered to patients across Frimley ICS (Bracknell, Slough & RBWM), to empower people with musculoskeletal (MSK) problems to recover and live well.

The app provides patients with locally configured, personalised and targeted advice to aid their recovery, wherever they are on their journey.  With a mix of media, including text, visual aids, and explainer and exercise videos.  The content is available in 13 languages and the app was co-designed with people with different physical, mental health, social, cultural, or learning needs of all ages to make it as accessible as possible.

Who is getUBetter for?

getUBetter is for anyone 18 years old or older who requires self-management support for a new, recurrent, or long-term MSK condition.  This makes it suitable for about 80% of all MSK patients.  Conditions covered include common muscle, bone and joint problems such as back, neck, shoulder, elbow hip, knee, ankle pain and tendinopathy.  It is not for those who require targeted physiotherapy or medical management, e.g. rheumatological condition, bony injury or anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

getUBetter is evidence-based and safe, with multiple level of safety netting throughout and advice on where to seek help when needed.  We know patients want timely advice when they have a MSK problem and can get frustrated if they have to wait to see a clinician.  That’s why we want to encourage them to use the getUBetter app which is available 24/7 so that they can have the support they need to start their recovery.

How do I signpost patients to getUBetter?

getUBetter will be sending you a poster for your pharmacy, so that patients can easily access the app.  Once it arrives, could we ask you to direct patients towards getUBetter and encourage them to download the app via the QR code.  Patients can also obtain access via their GP practice website.
