The webinar will consider the benefits to be gained by using online services (Proxy Access for Care Homes) in managing patient and resident medication, including:

  1. Delivering a time and cost saving to GP practices and care settings through reducing time spent on processing manual / paper prescriptions
  2. Ordering online is easier and more time effective for the GP practice to process the medication orders
  3. Ordering is more accurate, therefore creates a reduction in unnecessary medications being issued, making it safer for residents
  4. Improved service through enabling the care home staff to manage their resident’s medications more effectively
  5. Reduction in unnecessary contact between care homes and the GP practice.
  6. Ability for care home staff to order at any time of the day or night.
  7. Care home staff have their own username and password. This means they do not have to log on and off for each patient – this has proved to save a lot of time and makes ordering more secure
  8. Enables the system to track a clear and easily accessible audit trail
  9. Creates a more effective working relationship between the GP practice and the care home
  10. Keeping online data sharing more secure
  11. Effective implementation and use can help to achieve higher ratings with CQC through DSPT, NHS Mail and Proxy Access
