The CPPE Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) Programme is a fantastic opportunity for pharmacy technicians to build advanced skills, increase confidence and play a key role in supporting safe, high‑quality patient care.

This fully funded programme helps pharmacy technicians to:

  1. Develop competence and confidence as a safe and effective final accuracy checker
  2. Strengthen leadership skills to support and guide dispensary colleagues
  3. Enhance their contribution to the wider healthcare team, improving patient‑facing service

Who can apply?

The programme is open to pharmacy technicians who:

  1. are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  2. work in pharmacy premises in England
  3. meet the ACPT programme entry requirements

What the programme involves

The ACPT programme is a 3–12 month blended‑learning course combining self‑directed study, e‑learning and workplace‑based activities. It covers:

  1. Professional and legal frameworks
  2. Leadership and communication
  3. Good practice in final accuracy checking and error prevention
  4. Labelling and packaging requirements
  5. Calculations

Learners complete a 1,000‑item checking log, with a mid‑point professional discussion and a final assessment. Throughout the programme, pharmacy‑technician tutors and a workplace education supervisor provide ongoing support.
