Hypertension and Contraception Training

The LPC has arranged this half day training session to support pharmacists* to deliver the NHS Hypertension Case-Finding and Pharmacy Contraception services.
Choose either a morning (9.00-12.45) or afternoon (13.30-17.15) session on Sunday 30th June at the Holiday Inn High Wycombe.
The training will be made up of two modules:
Hypertension
- Measuring blood pressure – best practice / NICE guidance
- Pulse checks – regular / irregular
- Normal readings & thresholds for abnormal readings
- Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring
- Educating patient on use
- Practicalities of issuing / returning equipment
- Cause of abnormal readings
- Promoting healthy behaviours
- Identifying & Managing stages 1 and 2 Hypertension
- How to manage conversations with your patient
Contraception
- Consent, health history & risk assessment
- Patient centred approach
- COC vs POP
- Other contraceptive options – use, risks and benefits
- Common issues
