Spring 2026 intake, Bath Clinical Postgraduate Pharmacy courses
The Bath Clinical Pharmacy courses are currently recruiting for the Spring 2026 intakes. Available courses include:
- CPD units in CV Therapeutics, Neurology, Polypharmacy, Critical Care, and Research Methods
- PGCert/Dip Clinical Pharmacy Practice (Primary Care or Secondary Care)
- MSc Advanced Clinical Pharmacy Practice (accredited by NHSE’s Centre for Advancing Practice)
Applications are open, and the deadline is 9am on 27 February 2026. Please see Clinical Pharmacy Practice: programmes and courses for pharmacists for further information.
The online pre-induction for all courses will take place between 23 March and 02 April. Following feedback from employers, we’ve restructured the Induction workshop so that students can now choose from two possible dates (Tues 24 AM or Tues 31 Mar AM).
I’d also like to take this opportunity to inform you of some other changes we’ve made to units over the last few months, in response to feedback on the need for additional flexibility for students and employers:
- Students are not required to begin with the two Foundation units. We still encourage newly qualified pharmacists to begin with these units, but they are not mandatory. This enables additional flexibility for mid-career pharmacists, or where there are specific employer needs.
- Students are now able to join at four points in the year (Sept, Jan, Apr and Jun) instead of only in Spring and Autumn. This offers additional options for both employers and students, and reduces the burden of large numbers of staff being absent on the same day for the initial units.
- The two Foundation units have been rescheduled to run consecutively rather than concurrently, enabling additional start points as described above.
- All units have had the number of workshop days reduced from two to one, in recognition of the current challenging NHS conditions. Workshops are also no longer compulsory. However, they are still strongly recommended as they contain valuable learning that can help towards assessments, and networking opportunities.
- Workplace mentors offer valuable support for learning but, appreciating the additional burden this places on employers, they are now recommended rather than required. Acting as a Mentor does not require registration with the University. Although marking of coursework is no longer required of mentors, we have built in workplace feedback on clinical learning opportunities to help guide pharmacist students.
- In light of changes to the undergraduate and Foundation training, we are updating the two Foundation units with two new units (supporting pharmacist introduction to advanced practice and prescribing). We will communicate further details on this once the new units have been fully approved by the university.
