Men in Mind Campaign
Buckinghamshire Council are pleased to support this year’s World Suicide Prevention Day through our Men in Mind campaign across Buckinghamshire. The campaign encourages everyone to play a role in supporting men’s mental health by creating opportunities for connection, conversation and support.
We know that people who are struggling may not always reach out for help. Men in Mind encourages friends, family, colleagues and communities to check in, start conversations and help people access support when needed.
Attached is the Men in Mind Partner Toolkit, which includes:
- Social media content and graphics
- Newsletter text
- Digital assets and promotional materials
- Information on local support services and campaign activity
We would be grateful if you could share these resources through your own channels, networks and communities to help extend the campaign’s reach across Buckinghamshire.
We are also sharing a blog exploring the “why” behind Men in Mind, including the importance of men’s mental health, suicide prevention and creating supportive communities where people feel able to talk openly about how they are feeling. Please read and share the blog by following this link Health and wellbeing | Buckinghamshire Council
As part of this year’s awareness activities, a new Listening Bench has been unveiled at Bierton Crematorium. The event was coordinated by Jodie (Crematorium team), Geoff (SOBS) and Esie (Public Health), with many members of Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS) attending and sharing their personal experiences. Their contributions highlighted the importance of providing spaces for reflection, conversation and support.
This will be followed by the launch of another Listening Bench on in October, delivered in partnership with Chiltern Samaritans and Buckinghamshire New University (BNU). Further details will be shared shortly, and we would welcome representation from the Suicide Prevention Group.
The benches form part of the Legend on the Bench initiative, helping connect people with support through messages of hope and signposting information. Local installations have been supported through partnerships with SOBS and Chiltern Samaritans.
Thank you for your continued support in promoting positive mental health and suicide prevention across Buckinghamshire. Together, we can help create communities where people feel able to talk, seek support and know they are not alone.
