NIHR HCP Internship Programme, for the South-Central Region: The Launchpad Programme

The NIHR has given additional funding to Pharmacy and Radiography early careers research programmes, including the Health and Care Professional (HCP) Internship Programme.

The Academy of Research and Improvement, within Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare, NHS Foundation trust (HIOWH) is hosting the NIHR HCP Internship Programme, for the South-Central Region; the Launchpad Programme.

Attached above are some slides you are free to use, which give a visual overview to teams, with a timeline and embedded links.

The Getting Started in Research Programme, is open for applications and is a free, 2-day, online programme: Training course | The Academy of Research and Improvement which is a standalone research training course, as well as one phase to the Launchpad Programme (it is not a pre-requisite as we understand that applicants may already have research experience and a project in mind).

Our online drop-in sessions are another phase of the Launchpad programme and are also up and running: Workshops (List) | The Academy of Research and Improvement to support any questions and provide advice.

The final phase is the internships which involve applying for up to £10000 as an individual or team, to carry out research activity.  More information can be found here: Launchpad | The Academy of Research and Improvement with the application window opening in November 2026.
